Most customers open your portal link on a phone. The portal is built for it — there is nothing to install, and everything they can do on a computer they can do on the phone, including signing an estimate with a finger.
Before you start:
- The customer needs portal access — see Giving Customers Portal Access.
- The portal opens in the phone's web browser. It is not the FieldPromax app your service providers use, and there is nothing for a customer to download.
How to Access
The customer taps your Portal link or the sign-in link from their email, on their phone. There is no separate mobile address.
Getting Around
On a phone the menu moves to a row of tabs across the bottom of the screen: Home, Visits and Estimates, plus Messages if your company uses in-app messaging. Each tab takes an equal share of the width, and the one the customer is on is picked out in your company's colour.
There is no hamburger menu and no drawer to slide out — everything is either a tab or on the screen in front of them.
Their Account, and Signing Out
The customer's account is the person icon at the top of the screen rather than a tab along the bottom.
Sign out is not in the top bar on a phone the way it is on a computer. It sits at the bottom of the Account screen.
Approving an Estimate on a Phone
On a computer the estimate's actions sit side by side. On a phone they stack, and Submit Change Request comes first — the signature box and the Approve Estimate button are below it.
- The customer opens the estimate and reads the line items.
- They scroll past Submit Change Request.
- They sign in the box with a finger.
- They tap Approve Estimate.
Result: The estimate is replaced by an approved panel showing the signature they drew.
Tip: If a customer says they cannot find the approve button, ask them to keep scrolling. On a phone it is below the change-request option, not above it.
